Dangerous app on Google Play Store named Squid Game
Due to the big popularity of the Squid Game serie, many scammers have taken advantage of this to create malicious and dangerous apps and put them on the Play Store platform. According to Lukas Stefanko, a malware researcher at ESET, Play Store contains nearly two hundred applications related to the famous Squid Game serie. One of them is a malicious application called Squid Game wallpapper, which is a Joker-type malicious program that steals the victim's bank account information and makes paid subscriptions in his name, and it also inserts fraudulent and annoying ads. The application was removed from the platform as soon as the Google team learned about this, but unfortunately it has been downloaded nearly five thousand times.
The researcher also urged users to take a cautious approach when downloading Squid Game apps, saying, "I will be careful when downloading any unofficial apps. However, if I'm going to install any of them, I would advise users to read comments from others that might tell them what the app is about."
